Introduction

The principles of kinetic analysis are to be conveyed using a well-studied example.

The photoisomerization of trans-Stilbene with subsequent steps from dihydrophenanthrene to phenanthrene in hexane is followed by recording absorption spectra after specified irradiation times.

The individual concentrations of the reactants are determined via a dynamic multicomponent analysis using Lambert-Beer's law.

The number of partial steps and the size of the partial photochemical quantum yields are determined using graphical representations.
