Dot and slot blotting

Dot and slot blotting is a very simple and fast analysis method for nucleic acids or proteins. In this blotting process, the sample to be analyzed is pipetted directly onto the membrane without prior electrophoretic separation.

With the help of dot and slot blot devices, a large number of samples can be analyzed in parallel on a membrane. The samples are applied to a grid that prevents the samples from mixing, and then by applying a vacuum to the membrane below sucked (vacuum blot). The membrane is hybridized after blotting according to the usual protocol.

Dot or slot blotting enables rapid, quantitative analyzes of a cell breakdown by creating calibration series. In addition, a large number of samples can be tested for the presence of a desired molecule using the simple screening method.
